Our Story
The Search
Late one February afternoon, a co-worker convinced me that buying a horse was not only doable, but a good idea.  A mere two months and several long nights of internet searches, owner meetings, and failed attempts later, Jean-Luc Ponycard (AKA "Generator's Cuervo Gold") paced himself into my life. 
The Test
For starters, I never set out to find a "pretty horse". Yes, color is nice, but when I started searching for a companion I was looking for exactly that - a companion.  I wanted a teammate, someone that I could grow with and together we would make each other better.  The fact that I just so happened to find the Brad Pitt of the horses truly wasn't what I set out looking for, though it doesn't hurt.

Some time after 5 PM on Friday evening in late April I, and my best friend, rounded the final turn to the barn we had driven nearly two and half hours to find.  On a country road deep in the heart of West Virginia's farm country, rolled my 2015 Jeep Cherokee onto a gravel driveway.  As I rolled up to the most beautiful barn I'd ever seen, I remember spotting my future man in a glowing pasture off to the right. He was magnificent. His champagne and white colored coat literally glowed golden as the sun was going down.

"Could this really be my future horse?" I thought in my head.  

Together, my friend and I hopped out of the car where in front of beautiful four stall barn.  It looked like every girl's "dream barn" Pintrest board's had come to life. 

After exchanging pleasantries, it was time for a test ride. 
The Homecoming
​Around 2:15 PM, May 7, 2017 Jean-Luc Ponycard arrived at his new, forever home. Considering I really had no  expectations of any kind - he exceeded them all!

Today, we spend most days learning from one another.  Though I knew Jean-Luc had much to learn, words may never describe how unprepared I was for all the lesson this horse would teach me.  Sharing those simple lessons between a girl and a horse is exactly what "Horseback writing" is all about. Here you will find things we did right, plenty of things we did wrong, and reflections on how we became better together.  

Jean-Luc Ponycard inspires me, "to explore ... to seek out new life..., and to boldly go where no man has gone before."
